.com domains price will increase on 1st September, 2024
There’s an important announcement for website owners need to be aware of that – Verisign the company that operates the .com extension registry, will increase wholesale prices from $9 to $10 on 1st September, 2024. This increase marks the third consecutive year of price hikes, affecting new registrations, renewals, and transfers across all registrars.
While some registrars charge the wholesale price directly to customers, most add a margin, meaning the cost for .com domains is expected to increase across the board. With more increases coming in the year 2026 to 2029.
Verisign is allowed to increase prices per its contract with Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and agreement with the U.S. government.
